FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Over the years, PFI has worked with many state and federal agencies. In 2003, PFI began acting as the official United States Central Authority for the United States Department of Justice. PFI solely administers all formal service of process on behalf of the U.S. Department of Justice throughout the United States and its territories under the following treaties: The Hague Service Convention, Inter-American Convention on Letters Rogatory, and Letters Rogatory from non-convention countries. A Letters Rogatory is an official letter from an originating court and diplomatic channels, which request international judicial assistance and process service from an appropriate judicial authority in the country of destination.
PFI encountered significant process serving involvement in the global lawsuits that resulted from Enron Corporation’s multi-billion dollar bankruptcy. In late 2001, Enron and thirteen other affiliated entities filed for Chapter 11 in the United States Bankruptcy Court. Thereafter, PFI administered service of process for 140 filings from around the world during the court pre-trial phase and initial court proceedings. PFI specifically executed service of process with authority using approved international law methods: the Hague Convention on the Service Abroad of Judicial and Extra Judicial Documents in Civil & Commercial Matters, the Inter-American Convention on Letters Rogatory and its additional protocols, and through the Office of Overseas Citizen Services and Crisis Management.
PFI knows no boundaries when it comes to serving legal documents - in another country or language, or both combined. PFI can translate and certify a multitude various legal documents.
